{ Oliver, the bear with long thin legs… }


Materials
- 3.00 mm crochet hook
- 100 % cotton yarn for a 3.00 mm hook
- Tapestry needle
- Polyfiber fill  

Abbreviations (US Terms)
st = stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet

You will need: 
One color for the skin/fur, white and a contrasting color for the straps of the t-shirt.  
Oh! And a bit of brown yarn to embroider the eyes and muzzle. 
I use 100% cotton yarn. 

Finished size: 
From head to toe, Oliver measures 30 cm approximately.
Of course, should you choose a different hook and yarn, final measures will vary.


Ready! Let's begin! 


Leg 1 
Start with the color of the skin/fur…
1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (8)
3. to 20. Crochet 8 sc
Close and break the yarn.

Leg 2 + body
Start with the color of the skin/fur…
1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (8)
3. to 20. Crochet 8 sc


DON’T BREAK THE YARN… let's go on

21. With the second leg still on your hook, chain 10 ch stitches and join leg 1. Crochet 8 sc along leg 1. Then crochet 10 sc along one of the sides of the 10-ch chain, 8 sc along leg 2 and, finally, 10 sc along the other side of the 10-ch chain. Total stitches: 36
22. to 27. Crochet 36 sc
28. Change to white and crochet 36 sc
29. Crochet 36 sc
30. Change to the contrasting color of the t-shirt and crochet 36 sc
31. Crochet *7 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (32)
32. Change to white and crochet 32 sc
33. Crochet 32 sc
34. Change to the contrasting color of the t-shirt and crochet 32 sc
35. Crochet 32 sc
Start stuffing the body…
36. Change to white and crochet *6 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (28)
37. Crochet 28 sc
38. Change to the contrasting color of the t-shirt and crochet 28 sc

Stuff the neck area firmly…
44. Crochet *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (56)
45. to 59. Crochet 56 sc
With a bit of brown yarn, embroider the eyes between rounds 49 and 50. The distance between the eyes should be 12 stitches…
60. Crochet *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (42)
61. Crochet *5 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (36)
Start stuffing the head…
62. Crochet *4 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (30)

Stuff some more…
66. Crochet 6 decreases (6)
Close. Break the yarn and weave in ends.

Muzzle
Using white
1. Start with a magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
With a bit of brown yarn, embroider the nose in the middle of this white circle...

Bear Ears
Make two, using the color of the skin/fur…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
4. to 5. Crochet 18 sc
6. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 9 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches (9).
Close and break the yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the head. 

Arms
Make two. Using the color of the skin/fur…
1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (8)
3. to 20. Crochet 8 sc
Do not stuff the arm
21. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 4 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches (4).
Close. Break the yarn and leave a long tail to sew arms to body.

Assembly
Sew the white muzzle to the head, in between the eyes.
- Curve the ears and sew them to the head.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
