NOTE: Octavia measures 30 cm approximately. Of course should you choose a different hook or yarn calling, measures will vary.


Materials:
- 3.00 mm crochet hook (US C)
- 100 % cotton yarn for a 3.00 mm hook (DK Light Worsted)
- A pair of safety eyes of 8 cm
- Polyfiber fill for stuffing
- Tapestry needle

Colors:
- Black
- Orange
- White
- Tiny bit of light brown or grey to embroider details

Tutu skirt

Turn the body upside down (head down!) and join the orange yarn in one of the front loops of round 12, on your doll's back…

1. Crochet 1 sc in each of the front-loops of round 12 (30)

2. Crochet *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (40)

3. Crochet 40 sc

4. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (60)

5. Crochet 2 sc in each st (120)

6. and 7. Crochet 120 sc

Close. Break the yarn and weave in ends. 

 

Arms

Make two. Using black

1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.

2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (8)

No need to stuff the arm…

20. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 4 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches.

Close. Break the yarn and leave a long tail to sew arms to body.

 

Legs

3. to 8. Crochet 10 sc

9. Change to black and, only through back loops, crochet 10 sc

Remember to stuff the leg as you go…

10. to 33. Crochet 10 sc

34. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 5 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches.

Close. Break the yarn and leave a long tail to sew legs to body.

 

Ears

Make two, using black

1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.

2. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (6)

3. Crochet 6 sc

4. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)

5. Crochet 12 sc

6. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)

7. Crochet 18 sc

8. Press the opening with your fingers and crochet together, with sc, both opposing sides to close the opening of the piece (9 sts). 

Close. Break the yarn and leave a long tail to sew the ears to the head.

 

Tail

Using black

1. Make 2 chain stitches. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.

2. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (6)

3. to 33. Crochet 6 sc

No need to stuff the tail…

34. Press the opening with your fingers and crochet together, with sc, both opposing sides to close the opening of the piece (3 sts). 

Close. Break the yarn and leave a long tail to sew to the body.

 

Ribbon

Using orange… The ribbon is crocheted in rows, not spirals…

1. Chain 11 ch stitches. From the second chain from hook, crochet 1 sc in each chain (total stitches: 10 sc). Chain 1 and and turn.

2. to 4. Crochet 10 sc. Chain 1 and and turn.

5. Crochet 10 sc. Chain 1.

Before breaking the yarn, crochet a series of sc all along the sides of the rectangle and the other side of the foundation chain. 

Close, break the yarn and weave in ends. Use the same orange yarn to tie several rounds of yarn in the middle and finish with a knot, leaving a long tail to sew to the head.

 


Assembly
Curve the ears and sew them to the head.
- Sew the ribbon to one of the ears.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
- Sew the legs below the skirt.
- With a bit of orange, make laces to the ballerina shoes.
- Sew the tail to Octavia's back, below the skirt.
- Weave in all ends inside your doll.
