{ Crochet basket for kids' bike... }

Hello!! I share with you in this post the pattern for the basket I crocheted for my son's walking bike (with no pedals). He loved going everywhere with his bike, and he also always wanted to carry something with him: toy tools, plush dolls, cars, trucks and even something to snack for the trip! This was my solution to avoid having to end up carrying all myself, of course.
I hope you like it and crochet it for your little ones...

Materials:
- Crochet hook 6 or G (4.00 mm)
- 100% cotton yarn for a size 6 crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Two buttons

Abbreviations (US Terms)
st = stitch
ch = chain stitch
slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
increase = 2 sc in one same st
decrease = 1 sc joining 2 stitches

Ready?
Basket
1. Start with a magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet *2 sc in each st*, repeat * (12)

4. Crochet *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (24)

6. Crochet *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (36)
7. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (42)
8. Crochet *6 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (48)
9. Crochet *7 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (54)
10. Crochet *8 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (60)
11. Crochet *9 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (66)
12. to 18. Crochet 66 sc
19. Crochet *9 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (60)
20. to 24. Crochet 60 sc
25. Chain 34, insert hook in the 8th chain from hook (for the buttonhole) and then crochet 1 sc in each remaining chain (total = 26 sc), till you reach the edge of the basket. Crochet 26 sc along the edge (this is the separation between one strap and the other) and then chain another 34 ch. Once again insert your hook in the 8th chain from hook (to do the second buttonhole) and then crochet 1 sc in each remaining chain stitch (total = 26 sc), till you reach the edge again.
26. Now crochet 1 sc in each stitch along all the edge of the basket, including the straps. This will make them wider.
Close, break the yarn and weave in ends!

With your tapestry needle, sew the buttons just where the straps begin, near the edge of the basket. Make sure they go through the buttonhole, but they don't come out easily.
